Position Purpose
This role is responsible for leading and managing a team of inspectors across Quarantine, Incoming Inspection, Metrology Lab, and Supplier Liaison functions. The Team Lead will ensure that quality control processes are effectively executed, driving defect prevention and supplier quality improvements. A key objective of this position is to reduce scrap by identifying quality issues, implementing corrective actions, and ensuring adherence to inspection standards.
Major Tasks, Responsibilities & Key Accountabilities
- Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of inspectors in Quarantine, Incoming Inspection, Metrology Lab, and Supplier Liaison.
- Assign tasks and set priorities to ensure efficient workflow and timely issue resolution.
- Provide coaching, training, and ongoing development to ensure inspection staff maintain high-quality standards.
- Conduct daily team meetings to discuss quality concerns, safety updates, and process improvements.
- Oversee calibration and maintenance of all torque wrenches, gauges, and metrology equipment.
- Ensure accurate dimensional inspections by supporting Layout Technicians in interpreting drawings and selecting appropriate inspection methods.
- Audit inbound inspection processes to ensure proper scope and execution.
- Support assembly and fabrication process audits, ensuring adherence to quality requirements.
- Manage the Material Review Board (MRB) process, assisting with non-conforming material collection and processing.
- Lead investigations into assembly defects, working cross-functionally to identify root causes and corrective actions.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for supplier quality concerns and PPAP (Production Part Approval Process) discussions.
- Work with suppliers to resolve non-conformance issues, ensuring corrective actions are implemented effectively.
- Collaborate with Purchasing, NPI (New Product Introduction), and Production Engineering to improve incoming material quality.
- Ensure all ISO required quality documentation is accurately completed and maintained.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Candidate must pass any drug screens, background checks, and any pre-employments tests as applicable.
- Associate degree or four years of experience in a fabrication or machining manufacturing environment.
- Advanced math skills in trigonometry.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree.
- 2 years of experience calibrating tools and reading and Interpreting blueprints in a manufacturing environment.
- Previous CMM experience (Coordinate Measuring Machine).
- Knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).
- Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Competencies.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and SAP.
- Understand the complexities of interacting with support functions in an organization.
- Ability to influence and manage change within the business, promoting creative problem solving and continuous improvement.
- Excellent time management and planning skills.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills with all levels within an organization.
- Effective listening skills.

- Understand blueprints.
- Ability to learn and operate CMM and FARO Arm.
- Knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics and/or electronics.

- Flexibility with work activities; available for overtime.
- Ability to operate full range of JCB equipment or the demonstrated ability to learn.
- Must wear Personal Protective Equipment as required.
