Position Purpose
This position is responsible to handle raw materials by retrieving stock from racks, shearing, breaking and cutting the stock to size, deburring the edges in preparation for fabrication Cut and prepare materials for welding process, using bandsaw and grinder, beveler.
Major Tasks, Responsibilities & Key Accountabilities
- Able to read and understand mechanical drawings and weld prints
- Ability to recognizes and solves typical problems that can occur in own work area
- Effectively use standard hand tools & measuring devices, callipers, rulers
- Apply Continuous Improvement Tools and Techniques to improve weld-preparation operations
- Maintains a consistent standard of work and performance in compliance with regulatory and Quality Assurance standards
- Apply Problem-Solving Tools and Techniques in an effort to assist Welding in the elimination of defects
- Handles raw materials by retrieving stock from racks, shearing, breaking and cutting the stock to size, deburring the edges in preparation for fabrication
- Cut and prepare materials for welding process, using bandsaw and oxyfuel cutting torch, grinder, beveler
- Operates crane, electric stackers, and other mechanical assists to move, position and unload heavy parts and assemblies
Nature & Scope
Reports to Fabrication Group Leader.
Minimum Qualifications
- Physical requirements must be met with or without reasonable accommodation
- Must pass applicable drug screens, background checks and pre-employment tests
- Able to read and understand mechanical drawings and weld prints
Preferred Qualifications
- Six months to two years related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience
- One year of experience in forklift operation or inventory control procedures
- Operates crane, electric stackers, and other mechanical assists to move, position and unload heavy parts and assemblies

- Effective communication and problem-solving skills
- Detail oriented and self-directed
- Multi-task while maintaining a sense of urgency
- Flexibility with work activities; available for overtime
- Ability to operate pneumatic or various hand tools
- Must wear Personal Protective Equipment as required

- Must be able to work flexible schedule

- Must be able to grasp/pinch small items, reach out and up, and turn wrist.
- Must be capable of keeping pace with current production speed.
- Must be able to push/pull with reasonable force.
- Must be able to perform the following requirements of bending, stooping, climbing, kneeling, and standing for extended periods of time.
- Must be able to work in multiple climates including hot/cold temperatures, and dusty environments.
