BASIC PURPOSE AND SCOPE OF POSITION
Lead and manage a team of engineers to deliver commercial products aligned with the strategic direction of Kubota North America and Kubota Corporation.
This role will lead teams to develop and sustain technology-based products within Kubota. Engineering team tasks include developing requirements, design, prototyping, compliance with industry standards, component sourcing and integration, validation testing, documentation, sustaining engineering, vendor, and research partner management.
PRINCIPAL ACTIVITIES: This position does the following in accordance with all applicable Federal, State, and local laws / regulations and the Company’s policies, procedures, and guidelines.
- Lead all activities in the KTI-NA Kubota Technology Innovation North America) Product Engineering group related to commercialization and new product introduction to KBT system and following KS standards.
- Manage project teams in development of mechanical, electrical, and software systems related to machine automation, cloud connectivity, remote monitoring, sensor integration, and machine control.
- Lead engineering activities for web and server-based products/applications including 24/7 technical/functional issue response, security, disaster recovery, and continuous integration.
- Ensure development and maintenance of technical documentation for product development projects
- Establish new product introduction strategies for the annual dealer meeting products and looking forward three to five years.
- Work with Kubota R&D to bring forward maturing technologies into commercial products tailored to the North American market.
- Monitor the industry (consumer needs and competitor products) trends and changes in the standards, regulations, and technology in the U.S., for incorporation into product designs and relay to other Kubota R&D functions.
- Collaborate extensively with other KNA Technology departments to ensure that engineering and R&D activities support the strategic direction and growth of KNA (Kubota North America) business.
- Plan, manage and measure the functional group’s human resources and develop a strong engineering workforce to ensure future growth.
- Develop and manage operating budget for assigned projects and functions.
- Create demonstrations and presentations for all levels within the organization.
- Orients, guides and mentors’ staff, providing ongoing guidance as annual performance reviews and disciplinary counseling needed.
- Inspires and supports team members through coaching and counseling, adeptly managing challenging situations in the workplace with diplomacy and tact.
- Demonstrates patience and professionalism in addressing employee complaints and information requests.
- Other responsibilities as assigned by management.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related technical field required.
- At least 10 years’ experience in mechanical, electrical, agricultural engineering or related technical fields with a focus on commercialization of technology-based products.
- At least 5 years’ experience leading engineering teams.
- Technical knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and software systems.
- Communication and coordination skills to develop collaborative relationships with senior level staff in the U.S. and Japan.
- Willingness to travel at least 20%.
EQUIPMENT OPERATION (% of time, description, nature of service):
- Office equipment including computer, copier, phone
- Prototype agriculture, construction, and turf machinery as required during testing activities
- Electrical and software diagnostic tools to debug and troubleshoot prototype systems.
- Shop/Power tools and fabrication equipment.
