What you will do
As a Lead Supplier Warranty Engineer, you will manage supplier warranty recovery efforts, improving performance through analysis and cost recovery—directly impacting Volvo’s financial results. You will also represent Group Trucks Technology Warranty in project and cross-functional teams, ensuring a strong connection between customer experience and product quality.
Your key responsibilities include:
- Confirming technical responsibility and financial liability for component failures through Warranty Material Analysis.
- Negotiating cost recovery with suppliers within contractual frameworks.
- Driving complex supplier negotiations in two core areas: warranty contract management, supporting Group Trucks Purchasing/Legal, and warranty recovery, leveraging technical investigations and contract reviews.
- Collaborating with Purchasing, Engineering, Legal (internal and external), third-party experts, and Truck Brands.
- Leading and supporting Warranty Material Analysis, including technical report reviews.

At Technical Analysis & Supplier Warranty Recovery (TA&SWR), we help improve product quality and reduce warranty costs for both customers and suppliers. Working closely with different teams, we support Group Trucks Brands and Business Areas in boosting profitability and customer success. Our warranty recovery process ensures cost savings while encouraging suppliers to improve their products. Through Warranty Material Analysis, we drive continuous quality improvements, reducing issues for our customers.
You'll be joining a global team with colleagues in Gothenburg, Lyon, Greensboro, Hagerstown, and Curitiba, working together to solve problems and make a real impact!
Who are you?
You are an experienced professional with expertise in consolidating warranty cases, analyzing technical data, reviewing contractual documentation, and building supplier recovery cases. You thrive in cross-functional collaboration with Aftermarket, Engineering, and Purchasing teams and are known for your innovative, "outside-the-box" thinking.
We seek a strong communicator with a passion for technology, technical analysis, and data. Our team members typically have backgrounds in Supplier Quality Development, Purchasing, Engineering, or Technical Project Management, combined with strong negotiation skills.
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical field
- At least 7 years of relevant experience
- Strong understanding of technical concepts, documentation, and requirements (e.g., TR, drawings)
- Ability to develop market application knowledge
- Experience with quality management tools (e.g., FMEA, RTS, PAA, PHR) and root cause analysis (e.g., 8D, Ishikawa)
- Proficiency in contract review and supplier negotiations
- Interest and experience in data analytics
- Proficiency in Microsoft applications and Power BI
An additional degree in a business-related field, experience in the automotive industry, and knowledge of Volvo Group products are meritorious.
