JOB DESCRIPTION
We are currently seeking a heavy duty diesel mechanic to perform repair and maintenance on diesel and non-diesel equipment including Class 8 trucks and trailers.
Responsibilities
- The diesel mechanic will provide technical service to vehicles and equipment.
- The diesel mechanic will perform general and detailed repair on truck engines and components.
- The diesel mechanic will perform general and detailed repair on semi-trailer and components.
- The diesel mechanic will have a working knowledge of electrical computer systems, including diagnostics and programming.
- The diesel mechanic will overhaul gas or diesel engines.
- The diesel mechanic will install and replace: injector’s, pistons liners, cam shafts, cylinder heads, rod and main bearings, oil pans, clutches, fan hubs, DOC & DPF units, differentials, fifth wheels, chassis components, brakes, HVAC system, change and replace transmissions and other parts of the operating system.
- The diesel mechanic will observe and listen to vehicle in operation to determine malfunction and plan work procedures.
- The diesel mechanic will lubricate moving parts and drive repaired vehicle to verify conformance to specifications.
- The diesel mechanic will keep abreast of technical bulletins.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a technician position demonstrating knowledge of both gasoline and diesel powered equipment diagnosis and repair.
- Ability to work with limited supervision.
- Able to travel to multiple locations within a 3 hour service area in a company supplied vehicle.
- Commercial Driver’s License is a plus but not required. A Valid Driver’s License is required.
- Basic hand tools, impact and sockets and toolbox are required.
