Operator & Electronic Systems (OES) Bengaluru is part of Global OES, Technology at Volvo Construction Equipment. We design the Software solutions of the future machines and Services with the purpose of making them more efficient and environmentally friendly.
New Technology Center in Bangalore is being established as it is essential for us to have a strong presence in key markets to remain competitive and agile. OES Bengaluru will be part of Bangalore Technology center (BTC) when it is in place.
Embedded Software Product Owner
Your job is delivering amazing Software product that delight customers. You define Software product roadmap and prioritizing backlog while maintaining conceptual and technical integrity of the Software Gateway. You are always looking for ways to improve a product or service to make it better, faster and more user friendly.
Business savvy is important for the product owner because he or she is the decision maker regarding what features the product will have and when. That means, the PO should understand the market, the customer/stakeholders, and the business to make sound decisions.
Communication is a large part of the product owner responsibilities. The product owner role requires collaborating closely with key stakeholders throughout the organization and beyond, so he or she must be able to communicate different messages to different people about the project at any given time.
You would make significant contribution to Gateway SW Product joining a team of highly skilled and well-organized product development team with colleagues in various parts of the world including India, Sweden, France, China etc.
The product owner role requires an individual with certain skills and traits, including availability, business savvy and communication skills. First, the product owner needs to be available to his or her team. The best product owners show commitment by doing whatever is necessary to build the best product possible – and that means being actively engaged with their teams.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Globally responsible for the Software Product (SW Gateway).
- One point of Contact globally for the SW Gateway Product.
- Be globally responsible for the functionality and quality of the SW Product.
- Support Software product development performed at all sites.
Software Product functional platform.
- Be responsible for the functional platform related to the Software Product, i.e., multi machines usage of Gateway Product.
- Make sure that the architecture; modules etc. are used in the correct way.
- Have responsibility of the Software Product Quality work.
Software Product Roadmap.
- Built upon the SW product Roadmaps for the SW gateway Product in Short and long term.
- Update and maintain a SW Release plan and its Budget.
Connect with Stakeholders.
- Participate in Monthly Meetings with Product platforms
- Participate in discussions with customer and stakeholders about technical choices and functionality.
AUTHORITIES
- Drive the SW Gateway product roadmap for local and Global needs.
- Prioritize and manage requests from different Product platforms for the SW Gateway.
- Manages & Owns budget for SW Gateway Products.
- Approval of product documentation such as SW Requirement Specification, SW Version Description documents, Own and drive Product time plans.
- Approve the deviations from SW process implementation, as applicable.
- Drive changes in the product to increase quality, performance and to meet new platform requirements.
As a Product Owner you are expected to:
- Have good Knowledge of Software Product Management.
- Have working knowledge on higher layer Protocols - UDS 14229, J1939, J1850 etc.
- Have an open multi-brand and multi-cultural mindset.
- Have good communication skills.
- Have ability to drive for results and to take initiatives and drive certain actions on your own leadership and empowerment.
- Have excellent prioritization skills and ability to eliminate roadblocks.
- Be business and customer oriented.
Knowledge and experience
- Bachelor / Master degree in ECE / EEE
- 12+ years of experience in Embedded Software Development domain in Automotive / Aerospace / Construction / Mining industry
GOOD TO HAVE:
- Product owner certification.
