The Service Shop Foreman sets the safest and highest standards in all duties assigned to him by the Operations Manager and acts as the first point of contact for diagnostic support of Team Members in the Shop. The Service Shop Foreman performs service and repairs on construction machines to ensure that equipment continues to run according to manufacturer’s specifications. The Service Shop Foreman also ensures all Briggs JCB standards are adhered to and executed consistently with company's direction.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
1. Lead with a Safety-First culture, wear proper personal protective equipment, participate in all safety meetings and comply with required Company safety practices and with applicable federal, state and local regulations, to include DOT and OSHA regulations; Lead safety via example and through bi-monthly Safety Huddles on relevant topics
2. Conduct all assigned work in a safe manner, per the Company’s safety guidelines, properly block, chock and chain equipment, and disassemble equipment as needed to facilitate major component removal and repair
3. Diagnose and repair Construction Machines, to include gas and diesel engines, transmissions, drive axles, differentials, hydraulic systems, brake systems, steering and lifting systems, and electric motors and systems, to meet monthly personal Briggs JCB revenue expectations
4. Act as a technical resource and provide basic and advanced technical diagnostic support to team members of difficult problems as needed. Support the development of team members by ensuring repair processes are always followed and all safe work practices are adhered to
5. Effectively coordinate service workflow job assignments to shop technicians while maintaining a high level of quality for all repairs on machines and components to ensure no faulty work leaves shop
6. Perform machine inspections to identify potential problems and safety concerns and execute advanced diagnostic troubleshooting and failure analysis on all components and systems
7. Communicate effectively with all Technicians and Operations Manager, and immediately notify them of any additional repairs deemed necessary, but not included in the estimate and/or work order; ensure all open work orders are reviewed daily to assure no work order is open more than three days without an Operations Manager approved reason
8. Provide guidance and training for assigned technicians and review service reports for accuracy at completion of the job, and ensure repair was correctly preformed
9. Perform post work completion inspections of other Shop Technician’s work prior to machine return to customer to ensure quality of repair and identify any additional opportunities.
10. Complete required technical training and certifications; assist Operations leadership with training needs for assigned technicians
11. Assist Operational leadership by maintaining all aspects of the shop (cleanliness, maintenance and organization) and determining needs for equipment, tools, parts and supplies by service call to ensure the branch is meeting required goals and metrics
12. Support leadership in Technician recruiting / retaining efforts to ensure top talent is onboarded into the Company and stays with the Company by providing guidance and training for assigned Technicians
13. Performs other related duties as assigned
minimum qualifications
Basic Knowledge & Competencies:

· Excellent mechanical aptitude, technical knowledge and problem-solving skills
· Thorough knowledge of all machines & operations that apply to a Construction branch
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills
· Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and take full accountability for are of responsibility
Previous Experience/Education:
· High school diploma or GED equivalent required
· Mechanical or trade school certificate preferred
· Preferred to be proficient in MS Word and Excel
· Ability to read precision instruments such as micrometers, dial indicators, bore gauges, etc.
· Welding certification and/or fabrication skills and/or experience preferred
· 3+ years of experience in leading other construction technicians
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
· Standing, walking, lifting, twisting and bending on a frequent basis
· Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
